The Young Adult Foresters (YAFs) are a small group of about 5 youth between the ages of 15 and 21 who are employed for 7-10 weeks in the summer to help WTI with tree stewardship projects around the city including watering young street trees, checking the health and keeping an inventory of street trees, and maintaining trees planted in parks. The YAFs get to experience many fieldwork components of caring for the urban forest and receive training that would help them excel in the green industry in the future.

WTI has an opportunity to take part in a more expansive project at Claremont Academy, helping a new club focused on environmental stewardship. We'll be talking about trees and their role in making the city livable and vibrant, our role in keeping the urban environment healthy, and taking on projects around the school and neighborhood to fulfill that role. WTI is grateful for this opportunity to work with students over the course of the year in partnership with the school.

Working with the Boys and Girls Club of Worcester we have run a spring program for two years. Kids from 10-14 joined us for eight one hour long session learning about topics in urban forestry and exploring the environment around the Boys and Girls Club to learn about what's growing around them and how to care for it. We wrapped up the program by planting a trees in the neighborhood.
